Who we are, What we are about & Our reason for starting our Blog's

Hi all from Kate and Róisín and welcome to our little blog of exploring, adventuring and understanding the world. This is a blog about everything travel. From the packing, the planning and the budgeting to the flying, photographing and memory making, with some added real-life relatable stuff along the way. We are two best friends who lead two different lives of an Events Manager and a Scientist but share the same big dream to see the world.

I, Your_mate_AuthentiKate, am a 24 year old girl with a Bachelors of Business degree in Event Management and Public Relations. I have worked mainly in the hospitality and events industry over the years and in different parts of the world including parts of Ireland, New York and Sydney. Now however, I am working as an Events and Entertainment Manager back in my hometown. If you like all things travel related and low key, no nonsense real-life shit, like what I ate for breakfast and how my run from the front gate and back went, you’ll feel right at home with my side of this blog.

I, Runaway_Ro am a 24 year old Bioscience graduate driven by memories and experience rather than comfort and stability. When asked what my ambition in life is, the answer will always be to see the world. I am a strong believer that we only get one chance on this big beautiful planet and I am determined to explore and understand as much as I possibly can. My side of the blog will be based on itineraries from past trips, tips and tricks on packing and safety abroad and planning my next adventure.

We’ve embarked on adventures together such as the infamous Irish “6th year holiday” to Spain, the J1 Summer in New York City and our first taste of a new world in Cuba. But we have also experienced other trips apart like Runaway_Ro’s family trip to Iceland and girl’s trip to Thailand and Vietnam and AuthentiKate’s European explorations in Budapest and her brave move down under to Australia.

Now, the why? Why did we decide to start this blog? Well, we are planning on doing a littleBIG trip around the world in 2021 and wanted somewhere to document it all. All the beautiful sceneries from dusk to dawn, the people we meet, the food we eat, the nightlife we partake in and everything else in between. We want to share how we plan it, the routes we take, the budgeting and the nitty gritty stuff that might help others along the way. We won’t just be documenting the highs, but also the lows, the bad days, the struggles and other everyday stuff that you don’t usually read about; the REAL shit!

It's all very lighthearted; just two friends trying out something new. It is just a fun and creative way for us to jot down our journeys and experiences and keep all our memories in the one place. So, If you know us already or don't know us at all think of us as "Your Mate AuthentiKate" and "Runaway Ro". I hope you enjoy the content and stick around.
